David Vázquez Ruiz

Graduated from the Faculty of Sciences of the UNAM. He has been a member of the Laboratory of Ecology and Conservation of Wild Fauna for more than two decades. He has participated in numerous projects of the laboratory and has collaborated in several of its publications, such as the books "Los Mamíferos Silvestres de México" (2005) and "Mammals of Mexico" (2014).
He specializes in the study of bats, mainly from western Mexico and specifically from the state of Colima. For almost two decades, he coordinated the biology area of National Geographic magazine, in its Mexico and Latin America editions. Today, he coordinates the taxonomic and nomenclatural update of wild mammal species of Mexico and their conservation status, soon to be published.
